  1. I just compiled QSSTV v. 9.4.4 in Debian 9, and it works in a minute. Free download. Of course, need to learn more about and maybe to fine tune some params. But it works from the box.

    • I just compiled in 18.04LTS. Not had many great results so far but it is managing to pull in images – just need to find out what settings are best for radio.

      • Few days ago it received well on 80m. Today bad condx on 20m, but will try later on 40m. Seems that version 9.4.4 has some bugs, it does not load image to send from a folder I chose for that. Instead it looks into ‘stock’ folder, dunno why.

  2. 145.500 MHz 2m is not SSTV calling frequency, that is for voice. It’s 144.500 according to RSGB band plans. Made me look like a right idiot when I was sending SSTV out on the FM calling frequency.

    • Hello “SSTV”,

In the USA 146.520 is FM voice calling frequency. Not sure about in the UK or anywhere else. 145.500 is recommended in USA for SSTV NFM along with 145.600 and 144.550 for SSB SSTV.
Writer did state for readers to consult their nations “band plan”.
Hope this helps. I hope to work you someday from Pennsylvania to UK ?

  3. 40 meter frequency in the US should not be 7033…. this is not in the voice part of the band, and, remember, SSTV is a “voice” mode. It is just a bunch of audio tones being transmitted on a SSB transmitter. One could argue that all of the so called digital modes (FT8, etc) are just a bunch of audio tones also. But it is my understanding that SSTV is treated as SSB. Until we get a proper rule saying basically damn the mode, what is important is bandwidth, we are stuck with what we have. I would love to hear from somone who is more up to date this is OM. 73
